Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is certainly a great honor and a privilege for me to lead the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Regional Meeting in collaboration with Dr. Tun Kurniasih Bastaman, the current President of the Indonesia Psychiatric Association.

As President of the World Psychiatric Association, I am fully committed to pay attention, assist, and closely collaborate with the psychiatrists and mental health professionals of the most need regions of the world.  In this respect, I selected, with the support of my colleagues from the WPA Executive Committee, Bali, Indonesia, for this WPA Regional Meeting entitled “Mental Health and Disaster, Beyond Emergency Response” as a symbol of our priorities and commitment to the South East Region of Asia.

Please join me in this WPA effort and, in so doing, improve the psychiatry and mental health system of South East Asia.  I look forward to meeting and working with all of you on September 13 - 15, 2012 in Bali, Indonesia.

The Indonesian Psychiatric Association in collaboration with WPA cordially invites your participation in WPA Regional Meeting, to be held in Bali Indonesia, 13-15th of September 2012.

The main theme will be: Mental Health and Disaster: Beyond Emergency Response.

During the last two decades, natural and man-made disasters have become a major humanitarian concern. Hopefully this meeting will facilitate the sharing of experience and information among mental health professionals in the region on the thematic issues beside other mental health issues and progress.

Bali, which is world-wide known for its natural beauty, richness in culture and artifacts, and warm-hearted people, will be an excellent site for the event.
